Interview with Marisa Papen

Beautiful model Marisa Papen is a self described “free-spirited, wild-hearted expressionist”. In her tiny body rests a big life loving heart and soaring spirit.
Marisa travels the World and writes her stories in pictures that she shares on her personal page.

Where did you grow up and what kind of child were you?

I was born and raised in a really small village in Belgium, called Paal.
My mom always says I was impossible to handle, I just think I had/and still have a lot of energy and don’t like rules:)

What was the scariest thing you did in your life?

Falling in love?

How do you stay in shape?

I move around a lot, traveling takes a lot of energy. But I also love to run, hike, swim and just explore 🙂

When did you start modeling?

When I was 22-23…

What is your favorite sport to watch?

I almost never watch television except for movies or documentaries.
If playing cards or domino or chess are considered as a sport… that would be my choice. I love seeing older men on a village square having a coffee while playing their favorite game.

What do you do when not working?

Well, I don’t even know what I would consider working (since work is mostly seen as something negative these days, I’d probably answer your question with paying bills or something 😉 ) I’m just living, meeting new people, cooking, exploring, evolving, creating, traveling.

What was a project or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant?

2017 was a beautiful year and I’m very proud of a lot of things I have created this year.
Visiting the Surma-tribe in Ethiopia.
Posing in front of the Pyramids in Egypt.
Naked-skateboarding in New York.
My second Calendar #PLANETPLASTIC that raises awareness about the disappearance of wildlife

How do you push through hard times?

I try to turn everything negative into something positive. I feel very blessed to be on this earth and for all the opportunities that have been given to me. You’ll almost never hear me complain. And if I do feel bad, I just go for a run, or jump in the Ocean.

What are your success habits?

Being true to yourself?

What is your dream project?

I definitely want to visit more tribes and also in general just using my voice to make this World a better place.
